How to Effectively Remove Press On Nails (without acetone)
If you're looking for a quick way to spice up your outfit or add some flair to an event, press on nails are a fantastic option. However, removing them can be tricky for some. The following steps can help make press on nails removal a breeze.
Be Gentle
The most important consideration is to never force removal. If there is resistance, don’t force it.
Tip: Removal tends to be easier when you’ve already worn your set for a while and see the edge of the press ons beginning to lift. This is your sign to switch into a new fresh set!
1. To remove both adhesive tabs and glue, soak your fingertips in warm, soapy water for 20 minutes.
This is the perfect opportunity to sit back and put on your favourite show. Soak your nails for 20 minutes in warm soapy water (we found dish soap to be the most effective). The soapy warm water will work its magic to soften the glue.
We do not recommend using nail polish remover or acetone (which is found in some nail polish removers) on press-on nails because they can be harmful to your skin and nails.
2. Gently nudge the edge of the press-on nail using the cuticle stick. If there is resistance, do not force removal. Re-soak nails if required
After 20 minutes, use a cuticle stick to gently nudge the edge of the press-on nail away from your natural nails until they pop off easily. If there is resistance, re-soak your nails for a few more minutes then check back in to try again. When done correctly, your press-on nails should pop right off.
Tip: If soaking in warm soapy water doesn’t do the trick, applying cuticle oil or olive oil to your nails may help.
3. Wash your hands and buff to remove any residual glue from the nails.
Once you've removed the press-on nails, wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. If any residue remains on your nails, gently buff them using a nail file to remove the excess glue. After washing and buffing your nails, apply cuticle oil or moisturizer—this will keep them looking gorgeous and healthy.
